April marks the Erie Canal Clean Sweep across New York State, hosted by Parks & Trails New York and the New York State Canal Corporation. The Erie Canal has been the heart of our communities for generations, and this is a chance to give back to the waterway that has shaped our towns and villages.
Volunteers in Holley, Albion, and Medina will help pick up trash, mulch gardens, and refresh parks along the canal, making the trails welcoming for our residents and visitors.

Holley – Erie Canal Clean Sweep
Saturday, April 18 | 9–11 a.m.
Canal Park Trail, Holley
Join Orleans County Tourism and the Soil & Water Conservation District for a morning of cleanup along the Erie Canal in Holley. Gloves, trash bags, and a light breakfast will be provided. Help us get the canal ready for the recreation season.

Albion – Erie Canal Clean Sweep
Saturday, April 18 | 10 a.m.–noon
Meet at Tinsel, Albion
Tinsel invites the community to help clean up the Erie Canal in Albion. Gloves and trash bags will be provided, and participants will be rewarded with free ice cream for their efforts.
Medina Lions Club Park Cleanup
Saturday, April 25 | 9 a.m.–noon (Rain Date: May 2)
East side of the canal, near the lift bridge, Medina
The Lions Club of Medina is inviting volunteers to help clean and mulch the park. Please bring a rake if you have one. Food will be served after the cleanup.
