Compass Rose Mosaic Dedication Ceremony at Oak Orchard Lighthouse Museum

Join us on Wednesday, September 17 at 6:30 p.m. for the dedication of the Mosaic Compass Rose, a project created by Albion artist Kim Martilotta with funding from GO Art!

Kim was awarded a $5,000 Ripple Grant, with fiscal sponsorship from the Oak Orchard Lighthouse Museum (OOLHM), to design and complete the piece. The Compass Rose was originally envisioned as part of the lighthouse improvements but postponed due to cost. Thanks to this grant, the project could finally be realized, allowing the museum to complete a key element of its original plan at a reduced expense.

The Compass Rose has already been completed in Kim’s studio and will be installed in the lighthouse garden. Kim, a well-known sculptor and mosaic artist, owns and operates Marti’s on Main in Albion.

This is the second GO Art! grant awarded to the lighthouse in 2025. Between this year and last, the museum has received three grants totaling $15,000 in support from GO Art! and the New York State Council on the Arts, bringing vibrant new works of art to the Oak Orchard community.
